Sow kindness into your mind
Intentional living. Emotional freedom. Confident sense of self.
How do you talk to yourself? What do your thoughts sound like? Our inner thought life has a direct impact on how we feel and how we lead our lives. Over time, our thoughts and perceptions have the power to form belief systems that provide a framework for how we view and understand ourselves and others in the world.
We become fluent in the language of our belief systems and operate from them as our accepted reality. Over time these become the narratives we live by, or the stories we tell ourselves. Depending on the nature of their origin, our narratives can affirm a healthy sense of self and healthy relating patterns, or they can chip away at them and cause dysfunction within ourselves and in our relationships. This can often create psychological distress like anxiety or depression.
Did you know, however, that just as we can consume nourishing food to cultivate our physical health, we can also cultivate a healthy mind by being mindful of the traffic inside of it? Self-awareness is a powerful mechanism that can help you take mental inventory and give you immense agency when it comes to your mental health. Instead of being subject to whatever cognitive input that comes your way, you can first notice its traits and then choose to subscribe to the thoughts that promote your self-worth and value, while letting go of the ones that don’t.
While deconstructing unhealthy narratives about ourselves and replacing them with healthy constructions takes time and commitment, we can still make a powerful difference in our mental and emotional health everyday by the mindful act of choosing how we sow into our minds.
You don’t have to live your life stuck in cyclical patterns that leave you feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with life, or even powerless. Become empowered to sow into your mind, body, and emotions with kindness and watch beautiful things bloom.
